Causes and solutions for pitting on honing pipes
The pitting of the quilted pipe appears as an uneven and rough surface on the product surface, also known as pitting. Most are continuous in sheets, but also partially or periodically distributed. The causes of pitting are:
1. The rolling groove of the finished hole or the front hole of the finished product is worn, or there are broken iron oxide scales and other objects stuck on it;
2. The broken iron oxide scale is pressed into the surface of the rolled piece and then falls off;
3. Roller corrosion;
4. During the heating process, the surface of the billet is severely oxidized.
The methods to remove pitting on quilting tubes are:
1. When changing rolls, check the rolls first, do not use severely rusted rolls, and replace worn rolls or grooves in a timely manner;
2. Improve the roll material, keep the rolling groove well cooled, and use process lubricants (see plastic processing process lubrication) to improve the wear resistance of the rolling groove;
3. Control the billet heating operation to maintain positive pressure in the furnace and reduce oxidizing gases. For some alloy steels that are easy to oxidize and the oxide scale is not easy to fall off, the surface of the steel billet should be covered with an iron sheet to protect it from heating;
4. Use high-pressure water, compressed air or an iron brush to remove the iron oxide scale on the surface before the rough rolling mill.
